My #Why

Updated: Oct 10, 2019

My Why

Many of you know me as a friend, acquaintance or family member.  We’ve chatted over coffee, a meeting, or our children’s outing event and maybe I have shared with you why I am passionate about my photography, but I am guessing for the greater part of my clients, you came to me first and foremost because you needed the boutique experience and service that I offer and now I would love to share with you why photography is my passion.

I hope to make this brief- I really do value your time and I hope that you find that learning a little more about me, helps our friendship and relationship grow and flourish.

My History

So growing up, I don’t really recall a whole lot, therapist say that I have short term memory concerns (although my long term is affected, strange I know).  There really isn’t much reason for this kind of “ailment” however I have learned to cope with the aggravation by having a very strategic planner which my mother jokes “has my life in it”.

Photography of my childhood would have been a great asset to me to help recall memories with family, milestones and holidays, but you can see where I am going with this.. There were a few pictures taken, but after the split of families and years later, where are they?  The four of us in our immediate family has only one portrait from Olin Mills when I was 6 months old.  THAT, was the last family portrait our family ever had, and what a shame, right?  It was for the lack of trying, it for some reason just never worked out with dates, times, cooperation, etc.

I am not outing my parents at all, they love me and my sister very much, and every parent (I would like to think) does the best they can for their child (children).  It’s just, when we don’t take the time to make photography a priority in our lives, and our children’s lives, we fail to commemorate the accomplishments and achievements that our loved ones make.  We fail to acknowledge the milestones of their lives!

These decisions have REALLY led in to the relationship that my husband and I have with our three year old daughter.  I am so very thankful that my husband who only occasionally grumbles about a photography session, but mostly, he is happy and willing to partake two of three times a year.   You see, he understands the whole that I feel in my life, I feel like life was too busy happening around my parents that they forgot to document these important milestones and I am not sure why, but a thought that I have not remembered in YEARS just popped back in my head.  It is a memory of me graduating 5K! WHAT!  You don’t know how big this is for me!

I recall us being on stage and be being with my best friend, Jeffrey and our light blue cap and gowns, us singing!  Oh wow! That is awesome, but it makes me wonder, if I had a photograph (and maybe there is one somewhere), would that memory have ever faded away or felt lost?  If I saw the image, I would recall it easily, instead, I have to work for it and wait to recall.

Okay, back to the subject.

My passion is putting gorgeous photography art in the hands of my clients, art that will be passed down, cherished and bring fond memories for years and years to come.  When you work with me, I spend one on one time with you discussing your session, preparing you, designing for you, editing and retouching for you.. there’s so much that goes into our session and time together.  I love to serve and I want to serve you!

So this is my “WHY”, you are my why, you are why I do what I do, because no milestone, family portrait session, accomplishment should be forgotten, it should be commemorated and celebrated!

P.S. My Christmas wish for this year, I have asked my mom for all the pictures she can find of my childhood :) I want to make an album to help recall memories..
